DHSK Orders Inquiry into Patient’s death, Allegedly due to Medical Negligence

Pulwama, Sep 15 (NVI): Authorities have opened an inquiry into the death of a woman who passed away at the Mohamadia Nursing Home in Pulwama on September 14, following suspicions that medical negligence could be the cause of the tragedy.

In this regard, an official order issued by the Director of Health Services Kashmir, a copy of which lies with NVI, states the formation of a special inquiry committee to probe the matter.

It reads as the committee, among others, includes Dr. Yasmeen Kangoo, Assistant Director, Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) – Chairman, Dr. Masood Rashid, Consultant Anesthesiologist, District Hospital Shopian – Member, and Dr. Imran Ali, Consultant Surgeon, Sub-District Hospital Kreeri – Member.

It also states that the committee is to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances under which Ms. Saboora, daughter of Arshid Hussain Bhat from Arihal in Pulwama, died and submit a detailed report with specific recommendations within a week.

It further reads that the report would clearly indicate legal action to be taken against those found guilty of negligence, as prescribed by law.
