Peshawar, Apr 5: Continuing to cause heavy losses to the Pakistani military, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) killed 255 personnel of the government forces and injured 375 others during the month of March, the militant Islamist outfit said.
The TTP said it carried out 385 ‘operations’ against the Pakistani military during the month in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Punjab Province and Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, 81 operations were carried out in South Waziristan district, 69 in North Waziristan district, 47 in Peshawar, 32 in Bajaur and Khyber districts each, 24 in Dera Ismail Khan, 23 in Tank, 20 in Bannu, 11 in Lakki Marwat and Mohmand districts each, 9 in Chitral district, 4 each in Kohat, Deir Payin and Kirk districts, 2 each in Mardan, Karam and Pishin districts and 1 each in Orakzai, Makran, all in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
Three operations were carried out in South Punjab, 2 in Gilgit-Baltistan and one in Quetta in Balochistan, TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani said in a statement.
These actions resulted in destruction/damage of 220 installations of the Army and its Special Services Group (SSG), 232 installations of the police and its Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), 155 of the Frontier Corps (FC) paramilitary force and 23 of the Secret Agencies and the affiliated militia force called ‘Peace Committee’.
The assets of the military and police force destroyed or damaged in these operations included 49 trucks, motorcycles and other vehicles, 30 military/police buildings/posts, 1 armoured tank, 6 drones, 82 security cameras and 11 communication systems.
The types of operations included 107 assaults, 91 sniper/laser attacks, 45 guerrilla attacks, 38 bomb blasts, 24 missile attacks, 22 ambush attacks and 20 retaliatory attacks.
Besides killing 255 and injuring 375 personnel of the Pakistani military and police forces, the TTP also captured 36 personnel of the government forces, he said. (NVI)
