Srinagar, Jun 4 (NVI): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, on Thursday reviewed security and logistical preparations at the Baltal base camp ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, officials said.
Accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Central Kashmir Range Rajiv Pandey and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal Sudhanshu Dhama, the IGP inspected arrangements being made for the smooth and secure conduct of the pilgrimage.
During the visit, the officers reviewed facilities established for Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel deployed for Yatra duties. They assessed security infrastructure, accommodation, communication systems and other essential facilities at the base camp.
Officials said Birdi stressed the need for close coordination among all stakeholders to ensure a safe, secure and hassle-free pilgrimage for devotees. He directed officers to maintain a high level of preparedness and ensure that all arrangements are completed well before the commencement of the Yatra.
The police reiterated their commitment to providing a secure environment and facilitating the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage, officials added.(NVI)
