Tangdhar, June 15 (NVI): An Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally was organised in Tangdhar on Monday under the aegis of Shakti Vijay Brigade to strengthen outreach, address grievances and spread awareness about welfare schemes available to veterans, Veer Naris, widows and their dependents.
According to officials, the event witnessed participation of 154 ex-servicemen, four Veer Naris and 25 widows from the area.
Representatives from various organisations, including the Veterans Cell, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), JAK LI Record Office, JAK RIF Record Office, civil administration, police, social welfare department, employment department, banks and other government agencies, attended the rally and interacted with beneficiaries.
Officials said the participants were briefed about welfare initiatives being undertaken for the veteran community, including ESM rallies, Veer Nari meets, ECHS clinical meets, artificial limb camps, outreach programmes for parents of martyrs and the ongoing SPARSH data migration drive.
The gathering was also informed about the empanelment of additional hospitals under ECHS in the Kashmir Valley to improve healthcare facilities for veterans and their dependents.
During the event, scholarships were distributed to 25 widows, four Veer Naris and 10 meritorious students from ex-servicemen families for their achievements in academics and extracurricular activities. Five distinguished veterans were also felicitated for their contribution to nation-building and community development.
Addressing the gathering, Station Commander Tangdhar Brig Dharmendra Yadav, SM, reiterated the Indian Army’s commitment towards the welfare of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families. He urged veterans to continue guiding the youth, promote social harmony and help combat drug abuse in society.
The rally concluded with an interactive session between the Station Commander and veterans, providing an opportunity to discuss issues and concerns. Officials said the event reflected the Army’s continued commitment to the welfare and dignity of the veteran fraternity and their role in nation-building. (NVI)
