Srinagar, Jun 25 (NVI): Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and assess the ongoing counter-terrorism operations across Kashmir, officials said.
Senior officers of the Army’s Kilo Force, the CRPF, BSF, ITBP and SSB attended the meeting, which focused on ensuring robust security measures for the annual pilgrimage.
During the meeting, Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of Srinagar, Budgam, Bandipora and Ganderbal briefed the DGP on the security architecture put in place for the yatra, officials said.
The officers presented detailed plans regarding deployment of security personnel, route domination, surveillance mechanisms, emergency response systems and coordination among various agencies to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
Prabhat directed all security agencies to maintain a high level of alertness, enhance intelligence-sharing mechanisms and strengthen inter-agency coordination, they said.
He stressed the need for round-the-clock vigilance to ensure the smooth and incident-free conduct of the Amarnath Yatra while continuing counter-terror operations across the Valley.
The DGP also underlined the importance of effective intelligence coordination and close cooperation among all stakeholders for maintaining peace and security in the region, officials added.(NVI)
