New Delhi, Jun 25 (NVI): Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said connectivity on National Highway-44 between Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir has been fully restored with the reopening of the flood-damaged bridges over the Ravi River and Sehar Khad near Kalibari.

In a post on X, Gadkari said the two bridges had sustained extensive damage during flash floods last year, affecting movement along the strategically important NH-44 corridor.

He said restoration work was taken up on a priority basis and completed within the stipulated timeframe, leading to the reopening of the bridges and the restoration of seamless connectivity between Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the minister, the reopening will facilitate smoother movement of passengers and freight traffic and provide relief to pilgrims travelling for the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra.

Gadkari said the restored infrastructure would strengthen regional mobility, support economic activity and further improve transport connectivity in the region.

The minister described the completion of the restoration works as an important step towards ensuring uninterrupted connectivity on one of north India’s key national highway corridors.(NVI)
