Srinagar, June 27 (NVI): A man was killed in an explosion after he allegedly mishandled an old unexploded shell near Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials said.
The incident occurred near Sumli Wali Dhok area when the shell exploded, they said.
The deceased was identified as Zabir Ahmad Bajad, a resident of Galibal Chandoosa in Baramulla district.
Officials said preliminary information suggests the blast occurred while the victim was allegedly handling the old unexploded shell. However, the exact nature of the explosive device and the circumstances leading to the explosion are being ascertained.
Police and other security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident, officials added.(NVI)
