Srinagar, July 9 (NVI): A Special Police Officer (SPO) has been disengaged from service in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district for allegedly failing to report for duty during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, officials said on Thursday.
They said SPO Shabir Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Primegam Hiller Shahabad in Dooru area of Anantnag, was assigned duty for the annual pilgrimage but did not report at his designated place of deployment despite being directed to do so.
Taking serious note of the absence, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag ordered his immediate disengagement from service, the officials said.
Police said maintaining discipline and professionalism is crucial during the annual pilgrimage and warned that negligence or dereliction of duty would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the rules.(NVI)
