Srinagar, July 22 (NVI): In a suspected terror attack, a policeman was killed today in Anantnag district of south Kashmir.
The incident took place at around 12.30 pm in the Lal Chowk in the heart of Anantnag district, officials said.
Constable Ashiq Hussain sustained critical injuries was immediately shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared him “brought dead”.
CCTV footage recovered from the site shows that Hussain, while coming out of a shop, was fired at from behind by someone who was following him.
The attacker fled from the scene immediatley after firing the shots.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident, the officials added. (NVI)
