Srinagar, July 22 (NVI): A police constable was killed in a firing incident in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag district in south Kashmir today, officials said.
Constable Ashiq Hussain sustained critical injuries in the incident and was immediately shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared him “brought dead”.
The circumstances leading to the firing were not immediately clear.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident, the officials added. (NVI)
