Two earthquakes jolt Gilgit-Baltistan, tremors felt in Kashmir and Ladakh

Srinagar, Aug 13 (NVI): Two back-to-back earthquakes jolted the Gilgit-Baltistan region on Thursday, with mild tremors being felt in parts of Kashmir and Ladakh, according to earthquake monitoring data.

The first quake, measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale, occurred at around 6:05 am at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres.

A second earthquake of magnitude 4.3 struck the region at around 9:54 am, also at a depth of 10 kilometres.

Mild tremors were felt in parts of Kashmir and Ladakh following the seismic activity.

There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or damage to property.
