Katra, Sep 4 (NVI): A high-level joint security review of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and the entire pilgrimage route from Katra to Bhawan was conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF on Friday to further strengthen security arrangements for pilgrims and visitors.
DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Shiv Kumar Sharma and DIG CRPF Awdesh Pathak jointly assessed the security preparedness along the route, including vulnerable locations and critical security points.
The officers, accompanied by senior Police and CRPF personnel, inspected checking and frisking points and reviewed the deployment of security forces, access-control measures, surveillance and existing checking procedures.
The team also interacted with personnel deployed on the ground and assessed their alertness, preparedness and response mechanisms.
The senior officers directed concerned personnel to ensure strict implementation of prescribed security measures and maintain heightened vigilance across the pilgrimage route.
Emphasising close coordination between the two security forces, the officers called for seamless communication and effective information-sharing to ensure a coordinated response to any emerging security challenge.
The joint review reaffirmed the commitment of J&K Police and CRPF to maintaining robust security arrangements and ensuring a safe and secure pilgrimage for devotees visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.—(NVI)
