Srinagar, Sep 21 (NVI): BJP legislators on Monday raised issues concerning NHM employees, electricity tariffs and daily-wage workers as the autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly commenced.
During the opening proceedings, BJP members displayed placards highlighting their demands, including justice for National Health Mission (NHM) employees, withdrawal of the increased power tariff and regularisation of daily-wage workers.
The legislators sought government intervention on the pending demands of NHM personnel and urged measures for the regularisation of workers engaged on a daily-wage basis.
They also raised objections to the prevailing power tariff structure and demanded a rollback of the recent hike.
The BJP legislators said they would highlight issues related to employment, outsourcing, electricity charges and other public concerns during the session.
The Speaker intervened during the proceedings and directed that the protest-related matter should not form part of the official proceedings or be reported.
The autumn session is expected to take up a range of issues relating to governance, employment, public services and matters concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir.—(NVI)
