Srinagar (NVI): Indian Army today paid tributes to Late Havildar Anil Kumar Tomar, who was killed in south Kashmir encounter a couple of days ago.
In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen BS Raju, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the gallant soldier on behalf of the nation.
Late Havildar Anil Kumar Tomar was part of a cordon and search operation on December 25, 2020, in the area of Kanigam in Shopian District.
At around 10:30 pm, the militants tried to break the cordon and fired indiscriminately, in which Tomar was grievously injured.
In spite of his injury, he showed highest level of courage and valour by retaliating effectively, in which one militant was killed.
The Havildar was immediately evacuated to 92 BH for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on December 28, 2020.
The 40-year-old braveheart had joined the Army in 2001. He belonged to Village Sisauli of Tehsil and district Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife and two children.
His mortal remains were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours.
In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and wellbeing, the Army stated.
