Quetta (Pakistan-occupied Balochistan), Jan 6 (NVI) Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) tonight said 47 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 30 injured in the suicide attack carried out by it on a military convoy in Turbat district of Balochistan on Saturday.

Revealing the identity of the suicide bomber who targeted the convoy, the BLA said the attack was carried out on the basis of specific information provided by its recently-formed intelligence unit ZIRAB about the movement of Pakistani troops.

“Majeed Brigade, the elite Fidayee unit of the Baloch Liberation Army, attacked the occupying Pakistani army convoy at Behman, 8 kilometers from Turbat city, yesterday (Saturday) at 5:45 pm (Pakistan time), causing heavy casualties to the enemy,” said a statement issued by its spokesman Jeeyand Baloch to NVI.

He said the enemy army convoy was heading from Karachi in Sindh Province to the the  Headquarters of paramilitary force Frontier Corps (FC) in Turbat district of Balochistan.

“The Majeed Brigade’s Fidayee unit detonated a VBIED into the convoy, eliminating 47 army personnel and wounding more than 30,” the spokesman said.

One bus, carrying the soldiers, and a military escort vehicle were completely destroyed while other vehicles were partially disabled in the attack.

“The convoy, consisting of 13 vehicles, included personnel from the occupying army’s MI (Military Intelligence) 309, FC SIU, FC 117 Wing, FC 326 Wing and FC 81 Wing,” he said.

The convoy also included the vehicle of SSP Police, retired army Captain Zohaib Mohsin, who was on vacation, he said.

ZIRAB had provided authentic information that an enemy convoy was leaving Karachi for Turbat and included important troops of the occupying army, Jeeyand Baloch said, adding the success of this mission reflected the excellent performance of the BLA’s intelligence and the unparalleled sacrifice of the Fidayeen.

The attack was carried out by Bahar Ali alias ‘Karwan’, a resident of Turbat who had joined the outfit in 2017 and volunteered to be a ‘Fidayeen’ in 2022, the spokesman said. (NVI)
