Quetta, Mar 8 (NVI) Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for recent attacks on the Pakistani army and its agents, including a notorious leader of a State-run ‘Death Squad’, in Naal, Quetta and Saami districts of Balochistan.

It said at least 3 agents of the Pakistani military were killed when the BLA fighters targeted Samad Sumalani, a notorious leader of the so-called ‘Death Squad’ formed by the occupying Pakistan Army and its intelligence agencies, using a remoted-contolled IED in Naal city of Khuzdar on March 5.

Sumalani was seriously wounded in the blast while three of his other agents were neutralized on the spot and his vehicle was also destroyed, said BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch in a statement.

Samad Sumalani has been involved in the targeted killings of Baloch people in Naal, Gresha, Panjgur and surrounding areas, he said.

Sumalani “led the so-called death squad on behalf of the occupying army violated the sanctity of homes and directly assisted the occupying forces in the forced disappearances of individuals,” he said.

“The occupying army has given Samad Sumalani free rein in drug trafficking, extortion and robbery in return for his acts of Baloch genocide. He has also been involved in seizing people’s lands under the patronage of the enemy army in Raghe, Hub and Kohda,” Jeeyand Baloch said.

Additionally, Sumalani and his gang have forced families to marry off their daughters at gunpoint, the BLA spokesman said.

Samad Sumalani was on the Baloch Liberation Army’s hit-list for committing national treason, he said, adding all those associated with him will also be directly targeted by freedom fighters.

“The primary target of the Naal attack was Samad Sumalani and his agents. Baloch freedom fighters prioritize avoiding civilian casualties,” he said.

“However, the enemy army and its agents use civilians as human shields which increases the risk of public casualties despite extreme caution,” the spokesman added.

Civilian casualties in the struggle for national liberation cause us great pain and suffering. We appeal to the Baloch people to maintain a safe distance from the occupying army and its local death squads to avoid harm, he said.

In another operation, Baloch Liberation Army freedom fighters targeted a post of the occupying Pakistani army on Qambrani Road in Quetta on the night of March 4 with a hand grenade attack, he said.

BLA fighters destroyed spy cameras and related electronic devices installed by the occupying Pakistani army at three different locations in the Geshkoor area of Saami, Kech, he added. (NVI)
