Quetta: Baloch Raaji Aajoi Sangar (BRAS), a conglomerate of various armed groups of Balochistan, today threatened to target celebrations of Pakistan’s Independence Day, which falls on August 14.

Along with the threat in a statement, the grouping expressed confidence that the Baloch people would remain away from Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations.

It said any participation by the Baloch people justifies Pakistani occupation of the Baloch land.

The BRAS also issued a warning to China, saying it should desist from being a party to Pakistani occupation of Balochistan and plundering of resources of the occupied land.

“China is supporting Pakistan, the occupier of Balochistan, in plundering the resources of occupied Baluchistan. We make it clear to the expansionist forces that we will not allow anyone to occupy even an inch of land in occupied Balochistan,” the statement said.

“If China does not desist from participating in Pakistani occupation and exploitation in occupied Balochistan, then Baloch people will teach them a painful lesson,” it said.

Those who support the occupation or directly become a part of the exploitation in Balochistan will be taught a lesson, it said.

The grouping asserted that Baloch fighters have the potential to thwart the attempts and plans of Pakistan and China to capture Gwadar, a key port city of Balochistan.

“Chinese representatives are asking the Baloch people to understand the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). While they themselves are continuously saying this, they are ignoring that the entire Baluchistan, including Gwadar, is an occupied territory,” it said.

“The ongoing projects in Gwadar are not developmental but exploitative projects. If these succeed, the population ratio in occupied Baluchistan will change,” it said.

“If this happens, the Baloch community will become a minority in their own country and will lose their national identity, rights over their country and resources,” it said.

“If China stops partnering with Pakistan and helping it in plundering Baloch resources, then Baloch people have no enmity with it,” the BRAS said.

It said apart from China, other countries too should avoid investment in Balochistan.
