Quetta: A suicide bomber today struck at a procession being taken out on the occasion of Eid Milad in Mastung district in Balochistan, resulting in the death of at least 52 people, including a Police officer, and injuries to dozens of others.
The bomber exploded himself when the procession was moving near a mosque at around noon, videos from the site showed.
Body parts of the victims were seen flying in the air due to the impact of the explosion which was very powerful, suggesting use of a large quantity of explosives.
According to the latest information, at least 52 people were killed and dozens were injured.
The dead included a Dy SP.
The death toll is likely to increase as a number of injured are said to be in critical condition, according to officials.
Eid Milad is a Muslim festival celebrated as birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad.
Meanwhile, two suicide bombers struck a police station in Hangu area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in which 4 people, including the two attackers, were killed.
The bombers apparently wanted to target a mosque inside the police station where prayers were underway but failed.
Before accusing fingers could be pointed at it, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) condemned both the attacks, while asserting that it was not involved in either.
