Gwadar (Pakistan-occupied Balochistan): In a major strike targeting Chinese nationals, 2 freedom fighters of Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) today carried out a suicide attack here in Balochistan and said at least 4 Chinese nationals and 9 personnel of occupying Pakistani military were killed and several injured.

The toll is likely to increase.

The ‘Fidayeen’ (self-sacrificing) attack was carried out on a convoy of Chinese Engineers engaged in various works in the Gwadar port city of Balochistan.

“This operation ‘Zir Pahazag’ continued for more than two hours,” BLA spokesman Jeeyand Baloch said in a statement about the attack which involved intense exchange of gunfire and explosions.

He said the 2 Fidayeen — Naveed Baloch alias Aslam Baloch and Maqbool Baloch alias Qayim Baloch — belonged to BLA’s ‘Majeed Brigade’, an elite unit which specialises in suicide and other precision-based attacks.

“According to the information received so far, at least four Chinese nationals and nine personnel of Pakistani military, were killed and several were injured,” Jeeyand Baloch said.

“This is preliminary information and the number of enemy losses could rise,” he added.

“After the successful execution of the operation, the BLA fighters chose their last bullets to end their own lives,” the spokesman said.

A detailed statement will be released to the media soon, he said.
