New Delhi (NVI): India reported the highest single-day spike of COVID cases with over 2.73 lakh new infections and 1,619 deaths in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said today.
According to the data, as many as 2,73,810 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 1,50,61,919 in the country.
A total of 1,44,178 people have been discharged, taking the total recovery to 1,29,53,821.
“India reports 2,73,810 new COVID-19 cases, 1,619 fatalities and 1,44,178 discharges in the last 24 hours. This took the total cases at 1,50,61,919, active cases at 19,29,329, total recoveries at 1,29,53,821 while death toll of the country stands at 1,78,769,” Union Health Ministry said.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 13,56,133 samples were tested on Sunday. A total of 26,78,94,549 samples have been tested so far.
Meanwhile, a total of 12,38,52,566 vaccine doses have been administered to the people so far.
