India’s COVID tally nears 86 lakh, death toll tops 1.27 lakh

New Delhi (NVI): India’s coronavirus tally stands at 85,91,731 with a single-day jump of 38,074 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry confirmed.

The country’s death toll has gone up to 1,27,059 with 448 fatalities reported during the same period.

Notably, 79,59,406 patients have been cured and recovered all over the country while active cases stands at 5,05,265.

However, this is for the 10th consecutive day when the active coronavirus cases remained below 6-lakh mark.

In worst-affected Maharashtra, the coronavirus cases climbed to 17,23,135 followed by Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Other states with a high virus hit included Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala and Delhi.

Moreover, of the total deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 45,240 fatalities, followed by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

The death toll in the national capital rose to 7,060, while 4,43,552 patients in Delhi have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the healthy ministry data shows

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) data, more than 11.96 crore samples tested for COVID-19 up to November 9. Of these 10,43,665 samples were tested yesterday.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan reviews COVID-19 situation yesterday in 9 states, including West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala and expresses concern that winters and festive season can potentially threaten gains made against the virus.
