Hyderabad (NVI): The Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine (CRIUM) is the only medical institution in the world which has treated more than 1.5 lakh patients of Vitiligo alone.
This was informed by Shripad Naik, the Union Minister for Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) here on November 3.
The minister has lauded the success of CRIUM while inaugurating National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders (NRIUMSD) upgraded from CRIUM at AG Colony Road, Erragadda.
Addressing the event, Naik called the researchers to find safe and viable solutions to prevalent health challenges, such as vector-borne diseases, non- communicable diseases, cancer and tuberculosis.
Meanwhile highlighting the current health challenges, Pramod Kumar Pathak the Additional Secretary of AYUSH has urged all to exploit the potential of Unani Medicine in addressing them through its cost-effective remedies.
The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G. Kishan Reddy was also present on the occasion.
“NRUMSD has been upgraded from the Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine (CRIUM) to a premier institute under the CCRUM,” said the Asim Ali Khan, CCRUM Director-General.
