Srinagar, Oct 18 (NVI): A Jammu and Kashmir registered luxury passenger bus, en route from Delhi to Srinagar, was stoned by some persons in Karnal in Haryana after a quarrel between its driver and a car occupants last night, resulting in injuries to a few passengers hailing from the Valley.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has urged the Haryana government and police to identify those responsible for the alleged attack.

The bus, carrying around 40 passengers, was allegedly stoned near a Dhaba during a stopover for dinner.

According to the driver, the car occupants, whose vehicle was already there, objected to the way the bus was parked and wanted it moved away.

He alleged that the car occupants got more furious after noticing that the bus had registration number of J&K and pelted stones at it, causing injuries to a few passengers besides damaging the wind shields.

Abdullah described the incident as unfortunate and called upon Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the state police to take prompt action against those involved.

He urged the authorities to identify the culprits and ensure that such incidents are not repeated, according to the details available.

National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar also condemned the alleged attack, describing it as a hate crime.

In a post on X, Dar said stones and bricks were pelted at a Jammu and Kashmir-registered bus near Kurukshetra, leaving an elderly Kashmiri passenger injured and causing fear among families travelling in the vehicle.

He urged the Haryana Police to take cognisance of the incident, identify those responsible and initiate appropriate legal action against them.

The exact circumstances leading to the alleged attack and the identities of the persons responsible were yet to be officially established.—(NVI)
