Kashmir reels under intense cold as Shopian plunges to -10.2°C, Drass freezes at -18.3°C

Srinagar, Jan 1(NVI):The cold wave has gripped Kashmir one again with temperatures plummeting across the valley.

Shopian recorded a frigid -10.2°C, the coldest in the region, while Drass in Ladakh froze at an icy -18.3°C, maintaining its reputation as one of the coldest inhabited places. Gulmarg registered -8.8°C, Anantnag -8.1°C, and Srinagar -4.4°C.

In contrast, the Jammu region experienced milder weather, with Jammu city at 8.4°C and Ramban the warmest at 10.4°C. Ladakh continued to endure extreme cold, with Leh at -8.2°C and Kargil at -14.4°C.

The biting temperatures signal the deepening of winter across the region, adding to the challenges of daily life.(News Vibes of India)
