Srinagar, Nov 5 (NVI): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti was on Thursday unanimously re-elected as the party president, officials said.
The election was held during a meeting of the party’s Electoral College, where senior leader Abdul Rehman Veeri proposed Mufti’s name for the post.
The proposal was seconded by senior leader Khursheed Alam, who urged the members to extend their unanimous support to her candidature.
The presiding officer subsequently sought the opinion of Electoral College members and asked whether any other candidate wished to contest the election. However, no other nomination was put forward.
The members unanimously approved Mufti’s candidature by raising their hands, following which they signed the proposal papers individually to complete the formal election process.
A large number of party leaders, workers and Electoral College members were present on the occasion.—(NVI)
