Jammu, Dec 24 (NVI): Sunil Sharma, the Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir from the BJP, today accused the National Conference (NC) of staging a “fixed match” in the recent protest over reservation.

Sharma claimed the protest was merely a political stunt orchestrated by Aga Ruhullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, accusing them of collusion. “For the first time, we are witnessing members of the same ruling faction protesting together and meeting with the Chief Minister behind closed doors,” Sharma said, labeling the incident as political theatrics rather than a genuine demonstration.

Sharma further stated that the NC would face defeat, asserting that their efforts to mislead open merit aspirants would ultimately fail. He also targeted Congress, accusing the party of defaming Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution. Sharma referred to the historical episode in which Ambedkar was removed from the position of Law Minister by Congress, calling it a deliberate conspiracy to undermine his legacy. He demanded that Congress issue an unconditional apology for tarnishing the image of India’s tallest leader.  (News Vibes of India)

Rift in NC : MLA Salman Sagar condemns MP Ruhullah’s protest, Calls it ‘drama’, distraction’

NVI Correspondent

Srinagar, Dec 24(NVI) : National Conference leader and MLA Hazratbal, Salman Ali Sagar, today sharply criticized the protest led by the party’s Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah, over the reservation policy issue, calling it “drama and a distraction.”

The protest, which attracted several opposition leaders and legislators yesterday outside Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s Srinagar residence has sparked a rift within the party.

Speaking to reporters at the NC headquarters in Srinagar, Salman Sagar said that while Aga Ruhullah’s protest may reflect his personal opinion, it did not represent the official stance of the National Conference. “If the MP believes he can do this, it is his individual decision, but this was not a party-driven initiative,” he said.

Sagar pointed out that protests are only organized by the party under the guidance of senior leaders such as Dr. Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, or through the general secretary’s office. “Such actions must be approved by the leadership. What occurred yesterday was a personal action and not a National Conference event,” he clarified.

The MLA also criticized the protest for offering a platform to the party’s rivals. “It was a gathering of our political adversaries, giving them a chance to exploit the situation,” Sagar said. “Yesterday’s protest was a drama and a distraction.”

He warned that such actions only played into the hands of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political rivals.

While expressing support for the students’ concerns, Sagar insisted that the NC remains committed to addressing the grievances of the open merit category. “I stand with the students of the open merit category and believe their issues should be addressed based on their population percentage. However, we will not allow political maneuvering on this matter,” he said.

Sagar also condemned what he described as political opportunism, pointing out that those with no mandate or public support were using the protest to advance their own agendas. “People who have been rejected by the public, with huge margins, were speaking on behalf of thousands. This undermines genuine efforts,” he added.

The incident has raised concerns about the impact on the National Conference’s unity and credibility. “The party is strong and these small incidents won’t shake us. But such actions create unnecessary divisions within,” Sagar concluded, expressing confidence that under Omar Abdullah’s leadership, the party would continue to address the issues surrounding the reservation policy.( News Vibes of India)

NVI Srinagar, Dec 23 (NVI): BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has strongly condemned the ongoing power cuts and water crisis in Kashmir, holding the National Conference (NC) government, led by Omar Abdullah, responsible for the worsening situation.

Chugh accused the government of failing to fulfill its electoral promise of providing 200 units of free electricity and criticized the frequent, unscheduled power cuts affecting the region, especially during the harsh winter months.

Chugh highlighted the severe challenges faced by the people of Kashmir, especially during Chilai Kalan, the coldest period of winter that begins on December 21. With temperatures plunging below freezing, he emphasized that electricity is no longer a luxury but a necessity. Chugh pointed out that Srinagar recorded a night temperature of minus 8.4 degrees Celsius on the first day of Chilai Kalan, the lowest in over three decades, exacerbating the already dire situation.

In addition to power shortages, Chugh expressed concern over the water crisis, stressing that both power outages and water scarcity are leaving residents struggling to meet basic needs. “The NC government has failed to prioritize essential amenities like electricity and water. The administration’s negligence has compounded the suffering of the people,” Chugh said.

Chugh warned that the BJP would organize protests if the government does not take immediate action to restore electricity and resolve the water crisis. He urged the Omar Abdullah-led administration to act swiftly to address these critical issues and fulfill its promises to the people of Kashmir.

Further criticizing Omar Abdullah’s leadership, Chugh accused him of losing the trust of the people and his own party. Referencing protests, including one by Srinagar MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi outside Abdullah’s residence, Chugh called for the Chief Minister’s resignation, stating, “This is a clear sign of the Chief Minister’s failure. Omar Abdullah must resign immediately.” (News Vibes of India)

SIA cracks down on ‘Kashmir Fight’ terror threats targeting migrant KP employees

NVI Correspondent

Jammu, Dexc23(NVI): In a significant move against cyber-terrorism, the State Investigation Agency (SIA), Jammu, has filed a chargesheet against key operatives behind the “Kashmir Fight” social media platform.

A police spokesman said that this platform, operated by the proscribed terrorist organization The Resistance Front (TRF), was used to issue threats targeting migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees, with the intent to spread fear and disrupt peace.

The threats, which surfaced in February 2024, prompted a swift investigation by the SIA. During the probe, Farhaan Muzaffar Mattoo, a Srinagar resident, was arrested for allegedly gathering and sharing sensitive information about the targeted employees. The investigation revealed that Mattoo acted as an intermediary, passing critical data via encrypted communication platforms to handlers based in Pakistan, who then issued the threats through the “Kashmir Fight” platform.

The chargesheet also names Sheikh Sajjad Ahmad, alias Sajjad Gul, a Srinagar native now operating from Pakistan, as the mastermind behind the plot. Ahmad is accused of orchestrating the campaign to intimidate migrant employees and create communal discord in the Union Territory.

The filing of the chargesheet underscores the resolve of Jammu and Kashmir Police to protect its citizens and maintain peace and harmony. The chargesheet was submitted today before the Hon’ble 3rd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu. (News Vibes of India)
