NVI Correspondent

Srinagar, Oct 31 (NVI): Congress President Tariq Karra on Tuesday said that the observance of October 31 as UT Foundation Day, is black day for Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters at Party headquarters on the 40th death anniversary of the former PM Indira Gandhi, Karra said that they will not be a part of its celebration in any way.

He said that this view resonates with many residents who feel their state was reduced to a Union Territory without their consent, eroding their autonomy.

On security reviews, Karra said they lack an “inclusive and holistic approach” due to the absence of local leadership in the process.

Security reviews should involve the CM or a representative, Karra said adding that this gap could lead to confusion and conflicting directions on security matters, which he argued could harm both the state’s welfare and national interests.

On Congress party’s commitment to full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, Karra said that the promise must be honored. “We are ready to fight for the complete statehood, whether inside or outside the Assembly or on the roads,” he said, urging the Prime Minister and Home Minister to fulfill commitments made both in the House and to the people of J&K.

Karra questioned the reasons for withholding statehood, especially after the government claimed security improvements in the J&K.   (News Vibes of India)

NVI Correspondent

Srinagar, Oct 31 (NVI) : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha marked Union Territory (UT) foundation Day by criticizing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other ministers for their absence from the celebrations.

Sinha said the importance of the oaths taken by elected officials, stating that those who swore to uphold the Constitution while Jammu and Kashmir is a UT did not participate in the event.

He referenced the Home Minister’s statement in Parliament, outlining that delimitation would occur first, followed by elections and statehood.

Sinha stated, “The Home Minister mentioned in Parliament that delimitation would occur first, followed by elections, and then statehood at an appropriate time. Those who took an oath on the Constitution while Jammu and Kashmir is a UT chose to stay away today. This reflects a duplicity of character. The reality is that we are currently a UT, and when Jammu and Kashmir is restored as a state, we will celebrate that as well.”

“The next three months will be crucial for security forces to combat militancy in Jammu and Kashmir,” LG Sinha stated, urging citizens to support counterinsurgency efforts to maintain peace in the region.

Sinha also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring statehood, stating, “Statehood for J&K, as promised by Prime Minister and Home Minister Amit Shah, will be granted at an appropriate time.” He further criticized those who chose to abstain from attending the UT Foundation Day celebrations, suggesting that their absence undermines the unity and purpose of the event.

Earlier, the National Conference (NC) and Congress legislators announced a boycott of the UT Foundation Day event at SKICC in Srinagar.

The National Conference, a major regional party, has opposed the status of Jammu and Kashmir as a UT, advocating for the restoration of statehood.

MLA Tanvir Sadiq stated that the party does not recognize the UT Foundation Day.

Omar Abdullah’s cabinet recently passed a resolution demanding statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the party’s long-standing stance on the issue. In a similar vein, a Congress legislator labeled the event a “black day” in Jammu and Kashmir’s history, questioning the legitimacy of celebrating the region’s status downgrade when citizens seek the restoration of statehood.   (News Vibes of India)

Balochistan: BLA says it killed 7 informers, agents of Pakistani military

Quetta: Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed to have killed 7 informers and agents of the Pakistani military in different parts of Balochistan, dealing a severe blow to the Pakistani establishment.

In one major operation, the BLA fighters carried out a large-scale attack on a hideout of a group of affiliates of the Pakistan army and intelligence agencies called the ‘death squad’ in Paroom area of Panjgur district, according to its spokesman Jeeyand Baloch.

The operation was based on the information provided by the newly-formed ZIRAB, the intelligence wing of the BLA, and was carried out on Monday night by the ‘Fateh Squad’, a specialised unit of the outfit, he said.

The attack resulted in the killing of 4 members of the notorious ‘death squad’, which comprises agents which carry out extrajudicial killings and abductions of Baloch people at the behest of the Pakistani military.

One member of the death squad managed to escape, said the spokesman but added that the weapons and other military equipment of the neutralised personnel were seized by the BLA fighters.

Simultaneously, another squad of the BLA fighters moved towards the attack site and targeted Zahir Shambezai, brother of the ‘death squad’ leader Bajar Shambezai.

Zahir was neutralized on the spot, while two of his injured associates managed to escape, Jeeyand said.

The BLA fighters subsequently destroyed the shelter along with two crash plants and other heavy machinery associated with the exploitation project at the same location, he said.

“In the Paroom area of Panjgur, certain national traitors, driven by personal interests, have become tools for the occupying army and death squads, actively working against the national movement,” the BLA spokesman said.

“They operate as informers and facilitators for the enemy state’s army, assisting in various ways, including relaying information on Baloch youth, delivering supplies to the enemy army, providing transport to intelligence officers, and installing cameras and solar systems for the enemy. These actions are carried out under the guise of a business relationship with the military,” he said.

The spokesman said that in Panjgur, certain individuals exploit the simplicity of local people, coercing them to inform on behalf of the enemy army under the pretense of ‘line’ operations.

“These individuals are appointed as ‘line in charge’ as a reward for aiding the army, receiving oil trade permits on the gold-seamed line in return. These individuals exploit the economic hardships of ordinary Baloch people, enticing them with permits in exchange for information,” he said.

“Unarmed informers also venture into the mountains under the guise of hunting, recreation, or livestock tending, attempting to discover the locations and routes of the fighters,” Jeeyand Baloch said.

He said the intelligence wing of the BLA is monitoring all such people closely and warned of their ‘harsh end’ if they do not cease their anti-national activities.

The spokesman said earlier, in an operation in Hoshab Tal area of Kech district of Balochistan, the BLA fighters arrested one Maqsood, who admitted to being an agent of the Pakistan army.

He confessed, during interrogation, that he met Colonel Miran of the Pakistan Army at Hoshab camp and began working as an agent of the Pakistani military.

Maqsood admitted that under the guise of a sympathizer, he had hidden a tracking chip in the supplies meant for the fighters and delivered it to the fighters’ camp, the spokesman said.

It led to a Pakistani drone attack on the camp in January 2023, in which 3 fighters of the ally organization were martyred, he said.

The agent disclosed the names of other accomplices in addition to admitting his crimes, Jeeyand Baloch said.

The Baloch National Court gave him a death sentence and subsequently, he was neutralized by the fighters for treason, the spokesman said.

ZIRAB continues to pursue other agents within this network, who will soon be brought to their logical conclusion, he warned.

In another intelligence-based operation, the BLA killed a key agent of the Pakistani army in the Killi Qambarani area of Quetta.

Syed Khan, an intelligence agent of the Pakistani army, was involved in recruiting informers for secret agencies, including agents for the occupying army in Quetta.

Following all intelligence and evidence, Baloch Liberation Army fighters neutralized Syed Khan in Killi Qambarani, Quetta, and confiscated his weapons, the spokesman said.

“Baloch Liberation Army claims responsibility for these attacks and makes it clear that anyone acting against the Baloch national movement and interests, regardless of nationality, race, religion, or sect, will be treated as an enemy and traitor and brought to its logical conclusion,” the spokesman warned.
