Pakistan: Bomb blast at rally kills 46, many injured

Peshawar: At least 46 people were killed and dozens were injured in a suspected suicide bomb attack on a party convention organised by religio-political Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) in Bajaur tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan.

The death toll is likely to increase as many injured are said to be critical condition.

The blast occurred during the convention of the organization in Khar area.

Officials believe that a suicide bomber blew himself up in the crowd, causing major casualties.

At least 83 injured people were brought to the hospitals in Khar and Peshawar of which 52 are still under treatment.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) issued a statement late tonight, condemning the blast and distancing itself from the attack.
