Srinagar, Oct 22(NVI): PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti today claimed that after the terror attack in Ganderbal district, the local administration was “pressurising” non-local laborers to leave Kashmir but the police quickly dismissed it as “completely baseless”.

In a social media post, Mufti said if the non-locals are asked to leave, it would only create more difficulties and send a negative message.

Mufti urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to intervene and ensure the laborers are given sufficient time to make arrangements.

“After the barbaric attack at Sonamarg there are reports that the local admin is pressurising non local labourers to leave the valley immediately. While I understand their obvious sense of panic but asking them to leave in this manner is not a solution. Will only create more difficulties & sends a very bad message to the country. J&K recently witnessed peaceful terror free elections & this knee jerk reaction will only prove otherwise. Might also cause outrage against Kashmiris working & studying in other states. Request Chief Minister @OmarAbdullah & LG @manojsinha_ ji to intervene & at least give them enough time,” Mehbooba said.

Soon after Mufti’s tweet, Ganderbal district police issued a rebuttal.

“The recent post in the social media about non-local labourers being asked to leave, is completely baseless. The J&K police is committed to maintain security and a sense of safety to all intending to earn their livelihood,” it said.  (News Vibes of India)
