Probe ordered into alleged medical negligence leading to patient’s death in Kupwara

Srinagar, Dec 10 (NVI): The administration has initiated a formal inquiry into allegations of medical negligence following the death of Abdul Hamid Sofi, son of Gh Rasool Sofi, a resident of Arampora, Drugmullar, at the District hospital Handwara in Kupwara district.

The tragic incident gained widespread attention after it was highlighted on social media, prompting public outcry and demands for accountability. In response, authorities swiftly issued an official order to form a dedicated inquiry committee tasked with uncovering the truth behind the incident.

The inquiry is being spearheaded by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) of Kupwara. The investigation team also includes Dr. Mubashir, MD Physician from Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sogam, and Dr. Gulzar, MS General Surgery from SDH Kupwara. Together, they are expected to thoroughly review the circumstances surrounding the patient’s death.

The official order directs the committee to submit a detailed report, including actionable recommendations, within seven days. The Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Handwara has been instructed to fully cooperate with the investigation to ensure transparency and impartiality throughout the process.
