Mumbai (NVI): BSE Sensex rallied over 300 points to hit new high today, enthused by gains in Reliance Industries which also scaled a fresh peak in the morning trade session.
The Sensex of the BSE touched a new high of 40,816.38 which was opened at 40,729.80 in the morning . It is up by 177.93 points or 0.44 per cent from its Tuesday’s close at 40,469.70 and is trading at 40,647.63 at 9.30 a.m., according to the information available on BSE India Website.
On the other hand, the broader 50-scrip Nifty at National Stock Exchange (NSE) opened at 12,004.75 after closing at 11,940.10. The Nifty is trading at 11,994.50 in the morning.
Meanwhile, shares of Reliance Industries (RIL) rallied nearly 4 per cent to hit their lifetime high of Rs 1,571.85 (intra-day), inching closer to the Rs 10 lakh crore market-capitalisation level.
The RIL shares hit high after the company’s telecom arm, Reliance Jio, announced tariff hikes in the next few weeks in compliance with rules, as it followed similar announcements by Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea.
