Srinagar, Jan 01 (NVI) Srinagar Police have solved an extortion and physical assault case with the arrest of three individuals involved in the crime.
The incident was reported on December 23, 2024, when Gh Mohiuddin, a sanitation worker from Firdous Abad Batamaloo, approached Police Station Maisuma in an injured condition. According to his complaint, he was attacked by a group of men near Budshah Chowk around 2:00 AM on the night of December 21-22. The attackers physically assaulted him, forcibly took cash from his wallet, and fled the scene.
Based on his complaint, a case (FIR No. 30/2024) was registered, and a thorough investigation was launched. Using CCTV footage and other technical evidence, the police identified and arrested the accused individuals:
Ishfaq Ahmad Dar alias Ish Mut, a resident of Nishat Khaki Mohalla, Srinagar.
Tahir Ahmad Mir alias 90, originally from Bangladesh Colony Rainawari, currently residing in Palpora Noorbagh, Srinagar.
Arsalan Mushtaq Wandroo alias Karihul, a resident of Hasibath Rainawari, Srinagar.
The police lauded the efforts of the investigating team for their swift action, which ensured the resolution of the case in a timely manner.
