New Delhi (NVI): The minimum temperature in North India has dropped further due to icy cold winds from the snow-clad mountains of Himalayas.
Amritsar in Punjab is the coldest city in the plains of India, with its morning temperature settling at 8.8 degree Celsius, according to SkymetWeather.
Narnaul in Haryana, Najibabad in Uttar Pradesh and Sikar in Rajasthan has recorded minimum temperature at 9.5, 10.4 and 10.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
Madhya Pradesh’s Datia and Raisen recorded minimum temperature at 10.9 and 11 degrees Celsius respectively.
Apart from this Hisar in Haryana, Nowgong in Madhya Pradesh and Pilani in Rajasthan recorded minimum temperature at 11.1 degree Celsius.
Ambala in Punjab recorded minimum temperature at 11.2 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, Delhi and NCR region saw a slight increase in minimum temperature to 12.4 degrees Celsius from 11.1 degrees Celsius recorded yesterday.
The maximum temperature today is expected to be around 27 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The overall air quality in the national capital today is in the “moderate” category.
According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital stood at 109 which falls in the “moderate” category.
The weatherman has forecast that rain and thundershower activities are expected to commence over Western Himalayas particularly over Northwest Rajasthan, West Punjab, as well as Haryana and later, would cover more parts by the evening of March 10.
“By the morning of March 11, we expect, rains to cover Delhi and NCR, West Uttar Pradesh and rest parts of Punjab as well as Haryana,” it said.
“Amidst rains, the temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius and there would be a nip in the air during morning and evening hours,” it added.
