New Delhi (NVI): Two medium-intensity earthquakes shook Assam in quick succession today early morning.
The quakes that took place at the same time, hit Guwahati and Barpeta – about 95 kms from Guwahati.
The earthquake that hit Guwahati measured 4.4 on the Richter scale and the one that shook Barpeta was of 4.2 magnitude, the National Centre of Seismology said.

No damage to life or property has been reported so far.
Assam and other northeastern states have been experiencing earthquakes since June this year. The region experienced 14 quakes in 18 days between June and July. Five quakes took place in Mizoram, four in Assam, three in Meghalaya and one each in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland during June and July.
