Poonch, June 12 (NVI): Two Indian Army soldiers were injured in an accidental grenade blast during a training session near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Friday, official sources said.

Official sources that the incident occurred in a forward area close to the LoC while troops were engaged in a routine practice exercise. According to sources, the explosion took place after a grenade accidentally detonated during the training drill.

The injured soldiers were immediately evacuated from the site and shifted to a nearby military hospital for treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable, though an official statement regarding the nature and extent of their injuries is awaited.

Army authorities have taken cognizance of the incident, and an inquiry is likely to be initiated to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accidental blast.
