New Delhi, Aug 20 (NVI): The Union Cabinet has approved the setting up of a bench of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in the Union Territory of Ladakh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Thursday.

Shah said the decision was taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and would improve access to justice for people living in remote areas of Ladakh.

“The Union Cabinet, under the leadership of the PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, has decided to set up a bench of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir in Ladakh,” Shah said in a post on X.

He said the move would significantly reduce the time required for residents of Ladakh to access legal services.

The home minister said the government remains committed to the all-round development of Ladakh and ensuring constitutional safeguards for the Union Territory.(NVI)
