New Delhi (NVI): In a first in the national capital, the Delhi government has announced to deploy around 13,000 marshals in the state-run buses for safety and security for the women with effect from October 29 to mark the auspicious occasion of Bhai Dooj, the festival that celebrates sacred bonding between brothers and sisters.

The announcement was made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal here on October 28.

Besides boosting safety for women, these marshals will also provide help to the needy and take care of the people at the time of emergency, Kejriwal informed while addressing a gathering at Tyagraj Stadium.

“Delhi is the only state where marshals will be deployed in the buses for the safety and security of the people,” he added.
