Srinagar, July 2 (NVI): An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 struck Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region late Wednesday night, with mild tremors felt in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the earthquake occurred at 11:27:01 pm IST. The epicentre was located at 36.53°N latitude and 70.47°E longitude, at a depth of 185 km, indicating a deep-focus earthquake.
There were no immediate reports of any loss of life or damage to property in Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities are monitoring the situation, while no casualty or damage reports were immediately available from the affected region in Afghanistan.—(NVI)
