New Delhi (NVI): The Kerala High Court extended the ban on all types of protests in public places till August 31, due to spike in COVID-19 cases.

Earlier to this, the court had on July 15 banned all public protests in the state till July 31.

As per the order from the court, all types of programs, processions in the state will not take place till August 31, going in line with the central government’s guidelines on Unlock 3.

The court said that only those events will be approved according to the guidelines issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) last month.

While considering a petition filed to stop the protests and mass mobilization, a bench of the high court had directed the state government to take all preventive steps to ensure that no processions and protests were held.
