New Delhi (NVI): In the view of impending cyclone Yaas, Indian Railways has cancelled several trains passing through East Coast Railway zone from today till May 29.
“Due to Cyclone YAAS, it is decided to cancel various trains orig/destination from/at Bhubaneswar & Puri and trains passing through ECoR in Howrah-Chennai Main Line,” the East Coast Railway tweeted.
In total 74 trains have been cancelled by East Coast railways, these trains include–Mumbai CSMT to Bhubaneswar, Puri to Ajmer, Howrah to Yesvantpur, Secundarbad to Howarah,
Guwahati-Bangalore Cant, Muzaffarpur-Yesvantpur, Ernakulam-Patna, New Tinsukia-Tambaram, Bhagalpur-Yesvantpur among others.

“The Deep Depression over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal remained practically stationary during past 6 hours and intensified into Cyclonic Storm ‘Yaas’ (pronounced as ‘Yass’). It lay centre at 0830 IST,CS near 16.4°N/89.6°E, 630 km south-southeast of Balasore (Odisha), ” the IMD said today.
It would intensify further into severe cyclonic storm during next 12 hours and into a very severe cyclonic storm during subsequent 24 hours.
It would continue to move north-northwestwards, intensify further and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal near north Odisha and West Bengal coasts by 26th May early morning.
It is very likely to cross north Odisha-West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar islands around noon of 26th May as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm, the IMD added.
