New Delhi: States and Union Territories in India still have over 17.93 crore COVID vaccine doses of the total 140 crore doses that were provided by the central government so far, the Union Health Ministry said today.
More than 17.93 Cr (17,93,72,576) balance and unutilized doses are still available with States/UTs and private hospitals to be administered, the Ministry said in a statement.
About 1,40,20,73,270 vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far, through all sources, the Ministry said.
The central Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country, the statement read.
The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced on 21st June 2021.
The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain, it said.
