Srinagar, May 24 (NVI): Security forces on Sunday recovered a major cache of rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) ammunition during a joint operation in the Nilsar Kandi area of Baramulla district in North Kashmir,
An official said that the operation was launched jointly by Baramulla Police, Army’s 52 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of militant-related material in the area.
During the search operation, the joint team recovered 14 rounds of OG-7V RPG ammunition and nine rounds of PG-7P RPG ammunition, they said.
Officials described the recovery as a significant achievement for security forces, saying it helped avert a possible threat in the region.
The recovered ammunition has been seized and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered for further investigation, officials added.(NVI)
