Over 200 stranded tourists rescued as massive operation continues at Gulmarg Gondola

Srinagar, May 25 (NVI): More than 200 tourists stranded after a technical snag halted the Gulmarg Gondola service were safely rescued on Monday by joint teams of security and disaster response agencies, officials said.

According to officials, the rescue operation was carried out by personnel of the SDRF, Gulmarg Police, Special Operations Group (SOG), Snow Leopards brigade and the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, including 14 specialised Mountain Rescue Teams.

Teams from the NDRF and the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) also played a key role in the ongoing rescue efforts.

The operation was launched after hundreds of tourists were left stranded mid-air following a technical fault in the cable car service at the famous ski resort in north Kashmir. Officials said rescue efforts were continuing to evacuate the remaining stranded passengers safely.(NVI)
