Mock Drill Conducted on NH-44 to Review Amarnath Yatra Preparedness in Pulwama

Srinagar, June 17 (NVI): A joint mock drill was conducted on Wednesday along the Galander-Kandizal Crossing stretch of National Highway-44 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district to assess preparedness and security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, officials said.

The exercise was carried out jointly by the district police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Fire and Emergency Services, and the Health Department.

Officials said the drill was aimed at evaluating emergency response mechanisms, inter-agency coordination, traffic management, disaster response capabilities, and overall operational readiness along the designated yatra route.

Various simulated scenarios were enacted during the exercise to test the efficiency and coordination of participating agencies in handling emergencies and ensuring the safety of pilgrims.

According to officials, the mock drill was completed smoothly and successfully, achieving its intended objectives and reinforcing preparedness for the annual pilgrimage.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is scheduled to commence later this month amid extensive security and logistical arrangements by the administration. (NVI)
