Jammu, July 22 (NVI): The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage remained suspended for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday due to adverse weather conditions, leaving the base camp town of Katra largely deserted as thousands of devotees awaited the resumption of the yatra.
Officials said the pilgrimage has been suspended as a precautionary measure following heavy rainfall and inclement weather conditions along the track leading to the cave shrine.
With the yatra remaining suspended, pilgrim footfall in Katra has dropped sharply, with markets and lodging facilities witnessing minimal activity compared to the usual rush of devotees.
Authorities have advised pilgrims to follow official weather advisories and avoid travelling on the yatra route until weather conditions improve and the pilgrimage is declared safe to resume.
Officials said the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi yatra will be resumed once the weather improves and the route is declared safe for pilgrims.—(NVI)
