Jammu, Sep 21 (NVI) Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said millets are not merely crops but instruments of health, sustainability and self-reliance, as he called for promoting their cultivation and value addition in the Union Territory.
Sinha made the remarks while inaugurating a national seminar on the Millets Mission in J&K aimed at promoting sustainable food systems and building a healthy agricultural ecosystem in the Union Territory.
“Millets are not merely crops but they are instruments of health, sustainability, and self-reliance. Let us together ensure that every plate carries nourishment and every village carries hope,” the LG said.
He said J&K, guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Shree Anna’, is working towards climate-resilient agriculture, empowering small farmers and women entrepreneurs and reviving the heritage of nutritious food.
The seminar discussed strategies to promote millet cultivation, value addition and marketing to strengthen sustainable food systems in Jammu and Kashmir.—(NVI)
