Srinagar, Nov 3 (NVI): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today conducted searches at four locations in Srinagar in Kashmir in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged terror financing, officials said.

The investigation pertains to allegations that one Umar Adil Dar was functioning as an overground worker (OGW) of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and was involved in activities linked to the outfit, an official said.

Dar and his associates were earlier apprehended while allegedly carrying a substantial amount of cash and incriminating literature related to the banned organisation, he said.

The official said Dar had previously spent around four years in jail in connection with his alleged involvement in separatist and anti-national activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

The searches are aimed at tracing suspected proceeds of crime, identifying financial networks and funding channels, examining alleged links with handlers across the border and collecting further evidence in the terror financing case, he said.

Further details are awaited as the searches are underway.(NVI)
