Srinagar (NVI): Heavy snowfall continued unabated in Kashmir Valley for the second consecutive day today cutting it from the rest of the country while a landslide blocked Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Samroli, Udhampur, official sources said.

Srinagar has received around 11 cm of snow while the valley’s gateway town of Qazigund in south Kashmir received 12 cm of snowfall as all flights to and from Srinagar international airport were cancelled for the day in view of poor visibility.

Authorities have mounted a massive operation to restore the highway which has been closed for traffic due to the landslide. Chief Secretary today reviewed ongoing efforts for restoration of power supply, road clearance operations and stock and supply position.

Heavy snowfall across Kashmir severely affected the transmission lines in Srinagar city and elsewhere in the valley. Electric supply has remained disrupted at most places.
