New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Western parts of India for the next two days and over Odisha, Jharkhand and other eastern states till October 3.
According to IMD, “Intense spell of rainfall likely to continue over Gujarat state, north Konkan on today and decrease thereafter.”
Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha & Jharkhand are likely to receive intense spell of rainfall on 29th & 30th September and are expected over Bihar from September 30 to October 3.
As per IMD, yesterday’s Well Marked Low-Pressure Area now lies over north Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Gujarat region & southwest Madhya Pradesh now lies over south Gujarat region and adjoining Gulf of Khambhat.
“It is very likely to move west-northwestwards, emerge into the northeast Arabian Sea & intensify into a Depression by tomorrow, the 30th Sept. 2021, morning,” the IMD said.
Then it is very likely to move further west-northwestwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during the subsequent 24 hours.
“Thereafter it is likely to continue to move west- northwestwards towards Pakistan – Makran coasts, moving away from the Indian coast,” it added.
Under this influence, Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at a few places & extremely heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Saurashtra & Kutch and heavy to very heavy & extremely heavy falls at isolated places over Gujarat region, Daman, Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places over north Konkan.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand,” the IMD said.
Light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy falls at isolated places very likely over Saurashtra & Kutch and heavy falls at isolated places over Gujarat region and north Konkan tomorrow, it said.
Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand is very likely tomorrow.
In view of likely tropical Cyclone formation over Northeast Arabian sea, Fishermen are advised not to venture into north & adjoining central Arabian Sea and along & off Gujarat & north Maharashtra coasts from 30th September till 2nd October 2021, the IMD said.
