    Kolkata: Massive fire in slum area

    New Delhi (NVI): A massive fire broke out at a slum in Kolkata’s Topsia area this afternoon. At least 6 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the blazing flames.

    At least 50-60 shanties were gutted in fire, according to media reports.

    The fire was eventually brought under control. Minister of Fire and Emergency Services Sujit Basu rushed to the scene to take stock of the situation.

    Later, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also arrived at the stop.

    A thick cloud of smoke was seen billowing out from the area.
